Dear All,

How can we capture the user name / id in the Hybrid Application (Ionic) platform?

Currently you can do this over the API of the JSAgent. dynaTrace.tagVisit("Username") is the exact call.

Hello @Matthias H.

Thank you for your reply. Can you please elaborate a bit or the exact location because I have to share someone who is doing the instrumentation activity?

They are using the 6.5 Mobile Agent for the testing purpose and later on will migrate to the latest version.

Babar

Okay. This call is not possible without the JSAgent. I assumed that the customer is using a JSAgent since Hybrid applications consist mainly out of JS code. On the native side (Mobile Agent side) they can report a value. Documentation can be found here: https://www.dynatrace.com/support/doc/appmon/appmon-reference/glossary/visit-tag/

Hello @Matthias H.

Could not get the point "This call is not possible without the JSAgent."

Do you mean a server side call "On the native side (Mobile Agent side) they can report a value."

Regards,

Babar

Sorry. The call is not possible was meant in the context of my other answer. Because dynaTrace.tagVisit() access the API of the JSAgent. So if you have got no JSAgent you can not use the API. But you can use manual instrumentation via the Mobile Agent and use one of the reportValues there. Afterwards you can use the documentation link to use a value that you reported as visit tag.

Hello @Matthias H.

Please correct me if my understanding is wrong that for the Hybrid app we can use only the manual instrumentation to use a reportValues for capturing the User Name / ID.

Regards,

Babar

Yes that's what I wanted to tell you. Alternative would be to include the JavaScript Agent and reportValues with the JavaScript Agent from the JavaScript part..

Hello @Matthias H.

Will the Ionic App visits register under the Mobile Browser instead of Mobile App?

Regards,

Babar

A Visit will be generated for both, but in the User Session they are combined. Hopefully this answers your question.

Hello @Matthias H.

Thank you for always your prompt reply. I noticed that the visit is only registering in the Mobile Browser with the complete user actions.

What we are missing in this situation?

Regards,

Babar

I am not sure if I understand you correctly. But in cases like this it is better to open a support ticket as we have to gather logs or see the environment to understand how the configuration looks like.
