Hello Chris,

Do you have any Firewall in between collector and agents?

How many agents are connected to your collector?

To keep start-up times low, it is necessary to deploy at least one Collector in every location/data center that is connected to an AppMon Server.

Check the following link for the collecter best practices:

Hi Babar,

Thanks for your support.

There is no firewall between the agents and the collector. They both located in the same data center and in the same LAN.

Br

Hello Chris,

Check the following two things, if you are sure about your network stability.

  • Open the agents overview and add the below two columns with the right click from the header and check the time.

  • Check the collector health fro the Start Center > Monitor > Dynatrace Collector Sizing (Buffer Saturation | CPU Usage | Memory Usage)

Hi Babar,

For a clear view of this problem, i have attached the Collector log

It mostly highlights this error,"

Hi Babar,

In addition, these two fields are empty.

Hello Chris,

The following message is in your logs.

The specified collector name dynaTrace Collector01 is already in use by another collector on host ugpdynatrace01. Please use a different collector name. This collector instance will be shut down.

Do you have collectors with the same name?

Regards,

Babar

Hi Babar

Those fields are empty in the attachment.

"The specified collector name dynaTrace

Please use a different collector name. This collector instance will be shut
down.
"

Yes that have been shown after shutting it down and restarting it again. It even surprised us why was showing that yet its killed. After a while we restart it and things get well but after 2-5 minutes, it gets disconnected again.

Thanks Barbar,

I used port 9998 for agents to connect to the collector.

Hi Chris,

As you mentioned whether you installed collector in new server or in the existing collector server(as a instance).

If its a same/different server, collector name should be different which we configure in Collector.config file.

Also if its in different server, in collector.config file "agent port =9998" you can use same in both servers.

But if its a same server(collector instance), in collector.config file "agent port = 9997" must change from 9998 port to any other port to avoid port conflict.

Also, in dtCollector.ini check the Memory allocated for collector, by default it is 2GB, based on the your total memory of the server(say 8GB), allocate 4 or 5GB to Collector.

Restart the collector services to check the connections.

Thanks

Hi Chris,

As you highlighted inthe image,

Change from 2G to 4G in the below lines and restart collector service.

-Xmx4G

-Xms4G

Thanks
