Is it possible to move same set of configurations from old Dynatrace version to new version?

If we upgrade Dynatrace version from 6.1 to 6.5, is it possible to move the same set of configurations had in 6.1 to 6.5? Else do we need to configure it newly?

Could you please guide us?

Hi Michael,

I'm sure you are talking about AppMon instead of Dynatrace. These are two different products.

You can use the migration tool to take your configuration to the new version: https://www.dynatrace.com/support/doc/appmon/insta...

Also please refer to the upgrade and migration guide, it has a good step-by-step guide: https://www.dynatrace.com/support/doc/appmon/insta...

best regards
Franz

Hello Michael,

Yes you can copy/move same set of config files from old version to new Dynatrace version (dtserver.ini, dtfrontendserver.ini, all collector.ini, server.config.xml)

First move data using DT migration tool --> https://files.dynatrace.com/downloads/migrationtoo...

Command:

Dynatrace Data Archive: Dynatrace 6.1 to archive directory (create new folder)

java -jar dynatrace-migration.jar -migration -sourceDTHome "<DT_HOME_OLD>" -targetArchiveDir "<ARCHIVE_DIR>"

Dynatrace: Data Extract from archive directory to Dynatrace 6.5

java -jar dynatrace-migration.jar -migration -sourceArchive "<ARCHIVE_DIR>/<MIGRATION_ARCHIVE>" -targetDTHome "<DT_HOME_NEW>"

Refer Upgrade or Migrate Guide:: https://www.dynatrace.com/support/doc/appmon/inst...

Note: It is highly recommended to manually check .ini & .xml config file though you are running DT migration tool (personnel experience)

FYI- Recommened to Migrate to Dynatrace 7.xx (first 6.1 to 6.5 then 6.5 to 7.xx)

I moved your post to the AppMon & UEM Forums. As Franz an Ramesh already said, the configuration will be copied to the new version if you follow the upgrade guide.

Thanks for your quick responses on this.
