Is the original .ini file always the same?

Me and my team want to updgrade and mirgrate fom 6.5 to 7.0. To minimize downtime we thought we could maybe "make" the <component>.ini file before we upgrade. Let's say we install an X amount of 7.0 collectors on different machines, without manually changing them, will they all be the same. If you install a new collector, will you always get the same .ini file?

Hi Ynias,

Provided that all those new collectors are the same sizing, yes, the all the collector.ini files will be the same. It's just a set of parameters which define how the process should run.

During an upgrade, the .ini files are left to be manually 'merged' with the new ones so as to only copy over custom flags and parameters which may have been set during the life of the old collector (e.g. for debugging or fine tuning).

Best regards,

Radu

Thanks, and this applies to all components (server, frontend server, anys server) ?

Yes, this applies to all components. All new ini files are the same.

Hi Ynias, Radu,

The migration tool can auto-migrate ini-content since a release a few weeks ago. So the best course of action would be to run the installer and then the migration tool (required anyways for collector upgrades) and it should take care of the ini-things.

Best regards,

Thomas
