Yep, as long as you don't end up with so many sensor groups that it becomes difficult to manage it's good to have different groups for different purposes. Something like different ones for prod, qa, and dev of course but also you can have groups that may turn up the detail for a specific piece of the application if you are troubleshooting an issue in one area. The only disadvantage is making sure that you have all (and only) the right ones you want at any given time placed and active.

Here we have custom sensor group tabs for our Internal Payment Services, External Payment Services, Product Services, Search Services, etc. It helps us to keep these sections separate for organizational purposes.
