JAVA Agent installation.

I already installed two web server agents onto my application servers. I realized that JAVA agents were also needed for getting complete transaction flow as I was not seeing anything under transaction floe though I had traffic and also the agents were connected. I went ahead and reinstalled the JAVA agents by checking JAVA technology while installing I did bounce the server after this installation, But I still see the technology as Web Sever against these agents. Do I need to install , another agents? The team did try but it is getting under the same agents. Any help on how I can install JAVA agents on these application servers where web server agents are already installed.

Hello Yamini,

Before going forward, please share the below information:

Do you have web and app on the same physical/virtual server?

Which web server do you have?

Regards,

Babar

Hi Babar

The application architecture has just two app servers so I am assuming yes they are on same server. I am not the application expert here so not sure on what web server, But I can get back on details on that.

Thanks and Regards

@Babar Q. Hi Babar,

This application is developed on Cordys which is JAVA based. So two cluster nodes are being used for this application and they have both web and JAVA components. They are using an IIS web server.

Regards

Yamini.

Dear Yamini,

In this case you will have to install the IIS Web Server agent and Java agent on the both servers.

Both agents have different installation and configuration.

Babar

@Babar Q.

So the current web agents installed will not work for the web component? I installed web first and then when I tried JAVA it updated the same agents which I feel is the issue.

Thanks and Regards.

Hello Yamini,

The both agents should work if you installed and configured with the proper way.

As I mentioned in my last comments and sent you the related links, please re-verify all the steps you have done, in case something is missing.

Also watch the below videos for better understanding.

Again stuck in the same issue @Babar Q. So my question is i have Dynatrace agent 6.5 installed on a 64 bit Windows machine. While installing I enabled JAVA .Net and webserver agent technology to be supported. After that I did the agent configuration by updating the dtwsagent.conf file. After updating agent name and collector server details , when I restart the service "Dynatrace Webserver agent 6.5" I see the configured agent appearing only as web server agent.

My question is how do I add a Java agent on same host? Do I make any changes in the command line of the same dtwsagent config file. Because i do have a config on one server not done by me though where in same agent under same name is running as JAVA and webserver agent.

Really confused on this.

Thanks and Regards.

Hi Yamini,

As per my understanding you should not pass dt parameters in dtwsagent.conf file,if you want to monitor java agent you need to pass in different conf file based on application.

Thanks,
