HI All,

I am aware that we use below command to upgrade from one version to another version in the same server .

java
-jar dynatrace-migration.jar -migration -sourceDTHome "C:\Program
Files\dynaTrace\dynaTrace 6.5" -targetDTHome "C:\Program
Files\dynaTrace\Dynatrace 7.0"

Can anyone tell how to copy configurations from one server to another.

Anyone have already done it?

Is it possible.

My requirement is to migrate Dynatrcae from Windows 2008 server to Windows 2016.

How to mention source and destination path to run above migration jar file.

Thnaks a lot in advance.

Regards

Hello @Karthikayini M.

You can migrate your AppMon installation to another host machine.

Below are the two important steps and rest are the same in the upgrade and migration guide.

5.1. Data collection

Create a migration archive:
java -jar dynatrace-migration.jar -migration -sourceDTHome "<DT_HOME_OLD>" -targetArchiveDir "<ARCHIVE_DIR>"

Where <DT_HOME_OLD> is the old AppMon installation path. A <MIGRATION_ARCHIVE> file named <Server_name>_<creation_dateTime>.dtma is created in <ARCHIVE_DIR>.

Keep the resulting file as permanent backup.

5.2. Data migration

On the target host, as Administrator or configured user, migrate the data to <DT_HOME_NEW> using the following:
java -jar dynatrace-migration.jar -migration -sourceArchive "<ARCHIVE_DIR>/<MIGRATION_ARCHIVE>" -targetDTHome "<DT_HOME_NEW>"

Backups and migration logs are created in a new directory in <DT_HOME_NEW>/migration/.

HI @Babar Q.

Thanks for the reply.

I have doubt that how to mention old and new server names.

If old server name is xxx and migrating to new YYY .

How to include that in the above command.

Sorry if the question sounds very simple.

Thanks & regards

Example below:

1.

java -jar dynatrace-migration.jar -migration -sourceDTHome "</opt/Dynatrace-7.1/>" -targetArchiveDir "</opt/dtbackup/>"

2.

java -jar dynatrace-migration.jar -migration -sourceArchive "</opt/dtbackup/<MIGRATION_ARCHIVE>" -targetDTHome "/opt/Dynatrace-7.2/"
