Hi Team,

We are currently using Dynatrace version 6.3 and its supports end by april 2018. So we want to upgrade it the version which have longer version of support. Can anyone tell to which version can we upgrade to? Also give us detailed steps of how to perform upgradation?

Also upgrade can be done in same server or else needs to build new server for new version?

Thanks

Praveena

Hello Praveena,

Below is the EOL chart of each product version. According to this you should go for the Version 7.0 because the full support is available until end of November, 2018.

Watch the following Performance Clinic for step be step migration.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6E-YagHNsfk&list=P...

Also read the upgrade and migration guide.

https://www.dynatrace.com/support/doc/appmon/insta...

You don't need a new server for the migration purpose if the existing server already fulfill the Hardware requirements for your sizing.

Babar

Thanks Babar. When will be 7.1 released and what will be it's full and limited support approximately. Also if we do the upgradation in same server will the procedure be same? @Babar Q.

Hello Praveena,

I guess the 7.1 version will be released in the end of November 2017 but I am not sure about the support that how long it will be available.

Yes there is only one procedure to migrate but if you move to the new host then you will have to change the hostname in the configuration once everything will be done successfully.

Babar

Thanks Babar. If we upgrade in the same server then how can we use the two versions? because until the new upgradation is fine we want the old one also to be in the server. @Babar Q.

Hello Praveena,

You can run the multiple server instances on one system for this purpose.

Follow the instructions from the below link:

https://www.dynatrace.com/support/doc/appmon/installation/upgrade-and-migration-guide/migration-tool/migrating-server-instances-to-separate-installations/running-multiple-server-versions-on-one-system/
