The second highest contributing Business transaction is averaging 679, however "visits by landing page" for one of our applications is sitting around 35,000. Is this something to be concerned about? I do not use a dashboard that actively uses this BT but unchecking active does not seem to remove the count.

as long as it doesn't grow anymore you should be ok. Dynatrace will prevent it from going beyond 50,000 anyway. It might have been a problem if you had a lot of BTs with large splittings. Your warehouse should be coping as you only have one bad guy. 🙂
If you really don't need this business transaction, you could change the splitting option to aggregate to most common patterns for instance (see screenshot). It should reduce the number of splittings.
Right click on the BT and select remove measures to flush the old values out.
