After terminating a browser via LoadRunner script, which metric should come down: Servlet Active Count or Live Count.

What is the difference between Active Vs Live Count in WAS?

Hi Naveen,

I will move your question to the App Mon forum and they will help with your WAS question there.

Thank you,

Hi Naveen,

  • Live Sessions described as:

The number of local sessions that are currently cached in memory from the time at which this metric is enabled.

  • Active Sessions described as:

The number of concurrently active sessions. A session is active if the WebSphere® Application Server is currently processing a request that uses that session.

All active sessions are included in the live sessions counter.

Live sessions contain all valid sessions in the JVM while active sessions contain sessions being accessed / used at the time you interrogate this PMI counter.

I got this from the WAS documentation. therefore I would assume that both would come down but active sessions first since once terminated that session would no longer show up when accessing PMI metric. HTH
