Total time shows up under the web server for some Purepath

Guide

Hi AppMon veterans,

We have few purepaths where total time is x second, if we try to find total time spend on each tier in pure path we are only seeing Web request is the only tier which is consuming all the time.

what we want to confirm is if this time spend is actually time spent on rendering the web page or is there something else we are missing.

we used developer tool (networking) feature to see if that's the case.

Please find attached screenshot for reference. your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,

Krunal Dave

Screenshot does not load unfortunately, but in general purepaths does not contains front end rendering time. Purepath is representation of server side transaction only. User action purepath contains both, front end and server side performance.

For purepath when you see only web server (web request) impakt there arę few possibilities. For Example for IIS it can be one of modules. Same story can be for Apache, in such cases transactions are hanged on WebServer and you will see impact only there. AppMon does not properly handle modules for IIS, this feature is working in beta in Dynatrace.

If this is not this case, and web server isn’t issue itself, it is possible that you don’t see something on server side, for example you have not proper sensor packs placed or you need some custom sensors that will expose some extra methods.

If you try compare purepath response time to purepath duration, this last one is considering whole time spend on transaction on all components. This is not time that user is waiting for response, but time which is including all async task for example.

If you have more questions feel free to ask, if you can try reuploading image Iwill try more precise answer.
