View of Historical Purepath from Backup AppMon Server

Hi,

We needed to keep purepath for longer period. Had discussed with Dynatrace we can do the following:

a) Do a full image backup of a working Dynatrace AppMon Server with Dynatrace Client (and all working Dynatrace installation and session folders, etc) in it.

b) Upon needed, restore the full VM image and just use the Dynatrace Client in the restored VM to view the purepath with the restored Dynatrace AppMon server backup at that point in time.

We tested to do a backup then restore but not able to see the purepath with the Dynatrace Client even through all the session files are confirmed in the restored VM folder.

Please assist to advise what other steps needed to make it work.

Thanks.

Hello @Haroon K.

Do you have a default location for the storage e.g sessions/stored or have a new disk or directory?

If you have an absolute path to a directory then the old PurePaths should not be the part of VM backup.

Note: For production installations it is recommended to reconfigure this location to be an absolute path to a directory outside of the installation directory to eliminate the need to move the storage with each AppMon upgrade.

Hi Babar,

Thanks for the reply. We had managed to see the purepath / visits info in the restored VM. It was a stupid mistake at our end.

Thanks.
