Web Tile - How are series sorted?

Hello,

How are the maximum 20 series for a Web Tile selected in Application Monitoring 6.5?

As per Steven L's comment in this RFE to increase the maximum splitting

20 REPLIES 20

Hi, can you be more specific? What do you mean with "how selected"? If we have a certain algorithms for that? No, we simply show the first 20 series we get from the server. You can also use the splitting selector to show only desired splittings.

BTW, with 7.0 we increased the limit to 40 series per tile and you can change this limit also via debug flag if required.

Excellent thank you Thorston, could you provide the debug flag to increase this?

Are there any plans to be able to specify how results are retrieved?

The client currently has ~80 series and needs to be able to assert that any problematic series are visible on the tile. He suggested we achieve this by being able to show top X series, e.g. using an Order By operator on an SQL Query

Here the 7.0 debug flags:

Tile limit
com.dynatrace.diagnostics.webui.tileslimit = 40
Splitting limit/tile
com.dynatrace.diagnostics.webui.splittinglimit = 40

At the moment there are no plans to change the behavior to retrieve results.

Thorsten

Perfect thank you, will these also work in 6.5?

Unfortunately, only for 7.0.

Hi Thorsten,

Any plans for including the DEBUG flag in 6.5 in future fix pack release ?

Thank You

Sakthi

It's under discussion! I will update you.

Hi, the backport of the debug flags is planned for one the next 6.5.x update.

Hi Thorsten, Thanks for your response and we are waiting for the release. Do we have any max value for the DEBUG flag or should we restrict to 40. Say if we set the value to 100 do we have any performance impact.

Regards

Sakthi

Hi Sakthi,

this depends on the max. number of tiles/splittings and the used browser. Loading time could be more of course. If not really required, stay with the 40 series. It's also hard to see something with so many splittings on a single tile.

Thorsten

Hi Thorsten,

With this debug option enabled, Can we also reduce the size of the tile to much smaller size than now or it will be of the default size which will not allow us to further reduce the size.

Sakthi

Hi Thorsten,

We see new DEBUG flag introduced for PWH DB. But no mention about tile debug flag.Do we have the debug option with the fix pack released ?

Thanks

Hi Sakthi,

smaller tile sizes can be made within 7.0. This has nothing to do with a debug flag and is per default available.

Regarding the PWH DB flag: I am not sure what this topic has to do with the original topic of this thread. Please create another question for this certain question.

Hi Thorsten,

It was said that the DEBUG flag for increasing the tile count will be available in next fix pack release. I was explaining you that the latest fix pack that was released last week only has mention about PWH DB flag (in the release notes) and no mention about the tile level DEBUG flag so checking with you to see if the DEBUG flag for increasing the tile count was included in the fix pack or not as we need this feature badly for our environment.

Hope this clarifies.

Thanks!

Hi,

I wrote it will be available in one of the next 6.5.x updates. Again, I cannot promise, but it should make into 6.5.16.

Thanks for your quick response. Will wait for the fix pack to be released.

Hi Thorsten, We have the 6.5.16 released and in the release notes we could see a fix for Web UI. Is this the one that refers to the DEBUG flag which we are discussing in this thread?. Need your help to check and confirm as we don't what was the solution.

  • JLT-186572 - Limits for the number of tiles per dashboard and the splittings per tile is too low and cannot be changed.

Thank You

Yes, that's the DEBUG flag solution.

Thanks Thorsten!. Will apply the fix pack
