WebSphere connectionPoolModule vs JDBC Connection Pool stats

When using the WebSphere Specific Attribute measures to pull the connectionPoolModule, we're seeing different data than what is in the Database dashlet -> Pool Usage.

Does anyone have an explanation as to exactly why it's different? Thanks.

Hi Allan,

You have to differentiate the source of the measures. JMX based measures are taken every 10 seconds. PP based measures arrive as PP are generated. So both resolution and values will be different.

Thanks for the answer, Harald.

I'm still not making sense of this, though. We're seeing the JMX Measures come in at, let's say, over 80% Connection Pool utilization. However, the DB screen never shows anywhere above 30%. I would expect to see something at least relatively close.

Also, how can we tell which Connection Pool is the one that is being consumed?

Hi Cesar,

If you display the details via the context menu, the pool name is shown. So please check if the same pools are compared. A session containing the PP / measures will help analyzing the issue. Feel free to open a support case.
