check active client ip on apach

Hi,

Until now, we've checked the number of active clients that are connected with netstat connamd-
netstat -antu | grep <HOST_IP> | awk '{print $5}' | cut -d: -f1 | sort | uniq -c | wc -l

Is it possible to achieve it from the purepath?

Regards,

Tamir

Tamir, I'm not sure what you mean by "achieve it from the purepath", but you can easily run that netstat command from a Monitoring Plugin on a scheduled basis and store the results in a measure.

Does this answer your question?

Hi Joe,

I've a collector for monitoring,

my question is- do i need to have a two way connection (9998 port),

or it's enough from the agent on the server that i want to run the command to the collector?

If you're running a Monitoring Plugin, it is run from a collector, not from the agent. Agents are not involved in Monitoring plugins.

The Collector process will need to be able to initiate the command onto the hosts where you want the command to execute. There's also the Generic Execution Plugin which might suffice for your needs, worth exploring.
