dtIntrospection exception

Hi,

In a 4.2 dyna environment i have a serious issue:  "Uncaught exception thrown by filter openSessionInView: java.lang.NoSuchFieldError: javax/servlet/GenericServlet.dtIntrospection" exception (you can see the whole exception at the end of the question).

It only happens if the (java) agent is active (obviously (smile)). When i remove it, there's no problem, but i want to monitor that jvm. The application is running in a Websphere App Server (other WAS+agents are working well).

I've seen a thread on this (Causes for dtIntrospection), but there was no solution (only an advice to discuss it with support).

Anyone saw this since then? Any workaround? It's kinda frustrating i can't use dyna on that server.

Thanks,
Tamas

Hi Thomas

Please reach out to our support team. There might already be a fix for this problem as you are running on an older version of dynaTrace. You are right - the problem is caused by dynaTrace. So - please open a support ticket.

What you can test in the meantime is the following: I think the problem is caused by the Servlet Sensor that captures additonal parameters, e.g: HTTP Parmaeters, HTTP HEaders, ... - so - try to remove some of the parameters that you capture and see if that makes a difference. that could also be input for the support team

hi Tamas,

as Andi said, this was already fixed in recent dynatrace versions, so upgrading would be a good thing, anyway. especially, because 4.2 will not be supported very much longer.

however, the Servlet Sensor should not be related to this. but the User Experience Sensor should! so if you do not need UEM, you could turn off the User Experience Sensor and you should be fine.

hope that helps, Christian
