export sensor groups

ckc
Organizer

Hi,

Are there any way of exporting sensor groups in a decent format?

If I just copy and paste the format is not very friendly.

Tried to do it through REST interface but no luck there either.

Are there any way to export them to xml, csv or something easier to work with then the copy/paste?

Regards,

Claus

Hello Claus,

When you say export, do you just want to export a list for documentation? Or for a different need?

Hello Jacob,

Yes, just for documentation, an easy for the eyes list for user with no access to our production environment.

Yeah there is not really an easy way to do this. You can only really copy and paste from the XML config and then try to strip it out using a script or something. You can find the XML in the <dt-directory/server/conf/profiles/<some-system-profile>.profile.xml

Hi Claus,

I would suggest using XSL to pull out the data you need from the XML

If you give me the format of the output you want from an example in your XML, I could probably provide you with some basic XSL to pull the list.

Hi Claus,

Please try the attached xsl: sensorgroupexttract.zip

Just download msxsl (or similar tool for xslt) and run the batch file provided.

An example txt file is included.

Given this starting point, you should be able to adapt the format to meet your requirements.

Actually there is a way:

  • select the desired sensor rules in the system profile -> sensors
  • right-click -> "Create Sensor Pack..."
  • provide a name and some (more or less) meaningful information
  • go to server settings -> sensor packs
  • select your newly created sensor pack and click -> "Export..."
  • save it as .dtcs file (which is actually a zip file, containing directory + plugin.xml)

also please refer to the documentation where this information is provided (somewhere between the lines :-)):
