hello, for one of my customers we would like to install/configure mobile app agent (appmon version 7.0).. I follow the document https://www.dynatrace.com/support/doc/appmon/user-... and also asked app developers to follow the document.

but there are many parameters also need to be set and I cant find much example on them.. like DTXAgentStartupPath, DTXMonitorCookie, DTXAllowAnyCert etc... Is there any best practices or examples of how to set these parameters... any help is welcome if anybody already already installed mobile app agents

Hello Gokhan,

You can go with the basic instrumentation with the following parameters:

  • You must uncomment and
change the cpwrUEM_startup.sApplId=(Provide the exact name of your mobile application which is available on the App Store/Google Apps)
  • You must change the cpwrUEM_startup.agentPath=http(s)://(URL of the mobile application which is hard coded into your mobile application)
  • You must uncomment and make
    the similar cpwrUEM_startup.useAnyCert=true
  • You must uncomment the cpwrUEM_action.sendEmptyAutoAction=true
  • You must uncomment the cpwrUEM_logging.level=debug
    and then save the file.

Hi Babar, although parameters you mention probably based on 6.3 I can relate them to 7.0 so it helps thank you 🙂

What about DTXMonitorCookie ? any information on that? or thats not needed?

setting cpwrUEM_startup.useAnyCert=true does not create any security issues?

thanks for your help , regards

Hello @Gokhan Y.

Please find the below information about your questions.

What about DTXMonitorCookie ? any information on that? or thats not needed?

Set the value of the HTTP Cookie header to be sent along with every HTTP GET/POST request made by the Mobile Agent when establishing contact with the backend or sending data to it. This method is only needed if your network infrastructure requires the cookie. The method must be invoked before startupWithApplicationName:serverURL:allowAnyCert:certificatePath: to ensure that the earliest requests include the cookie. It can be invoked again to change the cookie string at any time.

setting cpwrUEM_startup.useAnyCert=true does not create any security issues?

Allow any certificate for HTTPS communication. This variable is only evaluated if you specified the https transport mechanism in agentPath.

Babar
