truncate PWH tables on same Oracle instance

Hi,

I want to know any experience with truncating PWH table on same DB instance with different DB users. My customer uses two versions of dynatrace, 6.1 and 6.2.

Here are some history what my customer did.

1. Two DT servers used same DB instance on MachineA. (dtuserA on DT6.1 and dtuserB on DT6.2)

2. Few months ago, the databases of two users(dtuserA and dtuserB) were copied

2-1. Dynatrace 6.2 was connected to MachineB at that time with dtuserB.

2-2. Dynatrace 6.1 was not connected to MachineB. Still using database on MachineA.

Now my customer wants to move Dynatrace 6.1 PWH to MachineB, and they want to know truncate tables of dtuserA on MachineB before coping data again. I think that it will be okay, but I am not sure. I already said that DBA will know better than me, but my customer require the guaranteed answers from me because the database is created by Dynatrace. 😞

Does anybody have same experience or idea?

Thanks,

Hi,

the recommended procedure would be to drop dtuserA's schema completely on MachineB and copy over the schema from MachineA via backup/restore. Best regards,
