If you are asking about Dynatrace Client then there are two different type of clients.
Dynatrace Rich Client
Java WebStart Client
Standalone is the Rich Client which you can install on Users PCs.
WebStart client you can run directly from the .jnlp file but needs JRE 1.8.0_45 minimum for version 6.5
Portable Client you can use from any portable media e.g. USP, external HDD etc... without installing.
thanks again. there are so many names I'm not sure if one is the same as another. How about a Full install or a web browser? You don't need a client to view web dashboards as well? I thought there was also a client that can only connect to a single server?
The webstart client is the one that can only be connected to the server that it was downloaded from.
You can also think of the web interface in the browser as another type of "client" but this is really only capable of viewing data in a somewhat simplified but still useful way as opposed to actually configuring anything.
In order to see web Dashboard in web client, in browser you have to type https://dynatrace-server-IP/host:9911 , port 9911 should be used for Web client.
If you install Full installation package, you will get dynatrace rich client(standalone)..Using this client you can perform all operations. This uses port 2021.
