My Unix guy is experimenting with some types of new agents now that we are on 6.5. He has installed an agent that shows up as "Infrastructure" under the System Profile, technology is listed as "native" and Agent Mapping and Agent Group is listed as "Host-Agent" when I open the agent overview dashboard. We haven't used host specific agents in the past, since what we monitor comes with those anyway. But I'm wondering do we need a specific license for these types of agents?

Yes there is a specific "Host Agent" License you need for that.
As you said you only need this agent for machines where there is no other application agent installed, as all other agents (aside from the node.js agent) deliver there metrics already.
