Hello Phani! Shed some light on your life’s journey.

Initially, a career in IT was never my first choice; I always wanted to take up something adventurous and exciting, so right after graduation, I applied to join the defense services. I cleared the national exams and really made it to the final few after enduring five days of intense physical and mental challenges, but unfortunately, I could not make it to the final list. 😊 So, I chose plan B, and here I am, after a long journey in IT and truly enjoying what I do.

I’m from Hyderabad, a vibrant city in southern India famous for its Biryani and thriving IT culture. I graduated in Electronics and Communication Engineering and chose IT as my career, but my interest in computers started much earlier, during my childhood. We had a one-hour computer class weekly, where two to three kids shared one computer. I used to eagerly wait for my turn with a floppy disk in my hand to learn MS-DOS and other cool stuff. Those early experiences ignited a lifelong interest in technology and set me on the path to where I am today.

What is your professional background?

My first job was in Bangalore (another IT Hub), where I started as a trainee working on software delivery, network, and system monitoring applications (CA Unicenter NSM, etc.,) and this is where my interest grew in the monitoring world. After a few years, I had the opportunity to move back to my hometown, Hyderabad and join Computer Associates (it was really a cool company to work for back then). I started as a technical support engineer assisting customers across APAC, and that’s where I broadened my skills working on the CA suite of infrastructure monitoring technologies like Spectrum, eHealth, Nimsoft, Wily (yea, the APM), etc.. Later, I relocated to Dubai for a consulting role, where I worked with customers across the Middle East and North Africa. After a few years of traveling across the Middle East for work, I’ve finally decided to move to Sydney, Australia, where I joined DXC Technology. At DXC, I built and managed multi-vendor monitoring platforms over the years, providing monitoring as a service to customers. A few months back, I took on a new role primarily focused on Dynatrace within the consulting practice, working with customers across ANZ.

Me, and my beloved family.Me, and my beloved family.

How does Dynatrace fit into the picture, and what was the biggest challenge Dynatrace helped you overcome?

At DXC, we’re one of the largest customers and a premier partner of Dynatrace. Dynatrace is deeply integrated into our Platform X, our managed services offering that delivers end-to-end observability and faster problem resolution and helps us be more proactive and agile in serving our customers. It also provides a single pane of glass, allowing both customers and DXC to view the same version of the truth, which enhances transparency and collaboration.

Back in the day, I used to juggle multiple dashboards trying to explain to customers how to find the root cause of the issue. With Dynatrace, we simply put Davis® AI to work, which helps reduce the mean time to identify issues and automates root cause identification.

What makes Dynatrace Community important to you?

I strongly believe in the saying, “Whatever you give, that's what you receive.” I think sharing knowledge is one of the most valuable things we can do. Helping others find answers is a form of self-learning for me. While I don’t always have the answers to every question, I try to understand, learn, and provide a solution as best as possible.

"I find the Dynatrace Community as very active, with members always willing to share their thoughts and ideas."

The Community offers a wealth of learning resources, making it easier for newcomers to get started with Dynatrace, and it was incredibly helpful to me when I was just beginning. After all these years, I believe being a lifelong learner is one of the best things a person can do.

Tell us something about you that most people don’t know. What is your biggest joy or passion in life?

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, and my 5-year-old daughter keeps me quite busy 😊

I really enjoy cooking, which I find to be a great stress reliever after a hectic day. One of my favorite hobbies is collecting coins from different countries (yes, even in the age of bitcoins and digital currency), and I have built up a very extensive collection.

I love to travel and go on road trips, and I’m fortunate to have a wife and daughter who share my excitement and interest. Our recent adventure was a drive from Sydney to Melbourne, around the entire scenic island of Tasmania, and back to Sydney, covering over 3000 km in a week.

I ride a Bonneville, and commuting to my work is just an excuse to ride it. There’s something incredibly exhilarating about cruising on a bike, feeling the wind and the freedom of the open road. 😊

Me, and my daughter. <3Me, and my daughter. ❤️

Hmmm…bucket list...
🔹 One day, I hope to go on a road trip across Australia and explore the beautiful country. I’ll need to start by upgrading to a 4x4, as I doubt my humble Honda can handle it. 😄
🔹 A bike trip to Ladakh (India), will be a fantastic experience.
🔹 Maybe, if I get a chance to attend Dynatrace Perform, I would love to meet everyone in person. 😊
