Apply dynamic filters permanently to a dashboard

Is it possible to apply dynamic filters permanently to a dashboard so they don't have to be selected everytime?  We are a large organization with numerous micro-services.  We would like to create a dashboard template that can be easily cloned and we're looking at using dynamic filters to easily apply the dashboard template to each micro-service.   It seems the dynamic filters are cleared on every visit to the dashboard however. Is there way to attach the filters permanently, or some other recommended method?

Hi Pat,

You can configure dynamic filters of a dashboard clicking on Configure. This leads to Settings and on Add filter button you can add the filters you need and these keep in the dashboard permanently:

Is this that you need?

Hope it helps.

Elena.

I'm afraid its not possible to have permanent values for dynamic filters backed up. But it's possible to have one central dashboard with modified links to preconfigured dashboards with settings filled up (settings are contained in url). f.e. for related namespace dynamic filter it will look like:

https://xyz/e/env_id/#dashboard;gtf=-2h;gf=all;id=dash_id;es=RELATED_NAMESPACE-CLOUD_APPLICATION_NAMESPACE-ns_id%7Cxyz

Hello @Pat_Closson

You can configure the dynamic filter according to the monitoring setup.

  • Select the target Dashboard > Edit > Settings > Configure more > Dynamic filters.
  • You have (21) options to select from as a filtering criteria.
  • Custom dimension, Generic tag key, Application injection type, Database technology, Deployment type, Host virtualization type, Host monitoring mode, Kubernetes cluster, Operating system, Paas vendor type, Related cloud application, Related Kubernetes service, Related namespace, Service type, Tag key: Service, Tag key: Host
Tag key: Application, Tag key: Process group, Tag key: Process group instance, Tag key: Synthetic monitor, Tag key: Custom device.
