Dashboard not showing pod count = 0

Hi All,

I’m setting up a dashboard to show total pod counts. Currently, it displays counts accurately for pods with values above 0, but for pods with a count of 0, it shows "No data" instead. How can I make it display 0 instead of "No data"? Any advice?

Thanks,

Hi @Gyanendra

As per the attached Dynatrace resources:

Kindly ensure:

  • The related K8s entities are monitored as expected.
  • Monitoring signals are flowing into Dynatrace without blocking issues.
  • The K8s management zone configurations are accurate and reflecting the exact actual setup in K8s.

Regarding Dashboard:

  • Ensure there is no dedicated time-frame selected or wrong management zone assigned to the dashboard tiles.

Kindly note:

  • The insights displayed through dashboards are shown from a historical point of view, it means you can see the actual behavior of the monitored entities for example last 30 minutes means from now till last 30 minutes, you will know exactly the metric trends either spike or drop or stability or what so ever.
  • As an example you may observe spikes in the request counts that comes through a specific service for processing.
  • As a result during the highlighted period, there was no actual activity that's why Dynatrace shown "no data".
  • Regarding "0" and numeric values, it comes as per the obtained data that enrich the target metrics for analysis and visualization.
  • I believe there is no way to represent "0" instead of no data.

Hoping it adds value.

"I believe there is no way to display '0' instead of 'No data' in Dynatrace". - Is this the expected behavior of Dynatrace? I mean, does Dynatrace show 'No data' instead of '0' when the count for a pod is 0?

Yes

Thank you for the clarification @Peter_Youssef
