I have to activated the http monitor, I want to see if the internet facing customer application is performing as expected.
The ActiveGate that is deployed in customer landscape is used, this gives strange results because the synthetic request are using a proxy to get to the internet first, resulting unrealistic measures.
To overcome this, I must deploy an activegate on the internet? Only doing synthetics part?
Is above conclusion correct?
HTTP monitors perform HTTP queries from the ActiveGate. If you need to monitor the customer-facing application from the internet, you will either have to deploy the ActiveGate somewhere externally or do the browser synthetic tests. Those browser synthetic tests, however, require Cluster ActiveGate in your Dynatrace Managed environment.
However, I don't think your current setup should give you "unrealistic" results. Normally, the proxy servers have an unmeasurable overhead. In what dimensions are the measurements unrealistic? If you do the same requests with curl/wget are the results comparable?
