Having issue getting Windows IIS logs

dbednar

We are having issues importing Windows IIS logs into dynatrace. I have setup the log monitoring on the host group but it's still not bringing the logs in.

I have them setup with the following but it's still not working on both the log storage configuration and Custom log source configuration.

D:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC4\*.log

D:\inetpub\logs\logfiles\W3SVC4\*.log

D:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC3\*.log

D:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC3\*.log

Any help would be appreciated.

Setting up custom log monitoring can be a hit or miss sometimes, here is the support article on setting that up: https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/shortlink/log-monitoring-custom-source#mainclscuipage I also recommend trying a support chat on this, the reason being is that I've run into undocumented limitations before with log monitoring.

I found out that I could get it to work if you set the collection at the tenant level instead of the host group level.  It started working then.  Hopefully dynatrace will fix this because with 2k hosts (and 50% of them being linux), it's a waste going through all the hosts instead of a subset (like a host group).
