When we had appmon there was a self monitoring section where we could see if the server or collector was overloaded on CPU or memory, how do we see this same information in the Dynatrace product? Can we install one agents on security gateways and cluster nodes to do this? I'm using the Managed Offline product and this is a concern when our holiday traffic increases.

Yes, you can install OneAgent on the cluster node and ActiveGates and make them report to a separate dedicated cluster for self-monitoring.
Basic monitoring is embedded into Cluster Management Console, like traffic, nodes and ActiveGate healthchecks, low disk space alerting etc.
The Dynatrace introduced a new feature called Local self-monitoring environment.
Thanks for sharing/responding. Appreciated.
It's a very good start. Quite a few metrics that are useful. However, I am looking at metrics from platform health-check perspective: E.g are elasticsearch and cassandra, healthy, if any one cluster node has become unhealthy? I do see metrics related to ActiveGate, OneAgent and Server. ... I will spend some time to explore these metrics to see if any of the included metrics can direct/indirectly answer my DT cluster health-check concern.
