I needed to get a new license that included User experience for my managed system, but the instructions with the license read like you are doing a new install. Is that accurate? Will this basically force my system to start from scratch?

In case of Managed license can be updated by your Sales Manager. The procedure is transparent for you. There is no need to replace the license key, nor reinstall the cluster.
Just let them know what you need.
