What is the difference between 'environment' and 'management zone'?

At least, I need to know the technical aspect. Appreciate if any kind member can tell me, or point me to the right page of documentation in case I missed it.

Better yet, you can also tell me what would be the possible difference/effect on the licensing after telling me the technical aspect.

The environment is a tenant - a monitoring environment within a Dynatrace Managed cluster.

Management zone is the option to get fine grained access control within an environment. You don't have to use management zones, but if you do, a zone is available only within the environment it has been defined.
