A metric to differentiate type of client's mobile device

DC RUM has Browser Hardware metric that allows to tell user devices on the iOS platform accessing application from smartphone from tablet user devices on the same platform.

However, for devices on Android platform the metric just reports manufacturer's name.

Is is possible to differentiate android smartphone users from tablet users for DC RUM - monitored application?

Hi

It's not always there or even trustworthy, but you could start looking through the User Agent string.

"Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2; fr-lu; HTC Legend Build/FRF91) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1"

At least it hints to a HTC machine but I don't know how to determine whether it's a pad or a phone 😕

If you want a OK list of strings, here's a link

This info you need to merge into DCRUM as desribed here
