Good afternoon! Intend to set-up the AMD 12.4 via VMware 5.5 whereby managed to installed RedHat 7.3 as a VM but I am struggling to install the AMD 12.4 on top of the RedHat.
- Installed successfully RedHat 7.3
- Mount the amdrhel7.cfg to the VM
- Reboot the RedHat VM then press "e" to type "linux ks=cdrom:/amdrhel7.cfg" (see exhibit)
- Reboot the RedHat VM but the same.
-The upgrade script seems not working as well and getting error something like not be able to upgrade if no existing package.
Had followed the procedure but it seems not working. Can you please help to advise what is the simple steps to make it work?
Installing AMD on VMware Virtual Machine:
Installing the AMD Software:
Installing AMD Operating System
The amdrhel7.cfg kickstart script is for use to do the installation, not to change it after the installation is already complete. To use the kickstart script, you have to boot from the RHEL DVD and set the ks=... string as part of the installer's boot, not part of the already installed host's boot.
If you've already installed RHEL but without the kickstart file, you need to install the missing OS dependencies now. AMD software installation package (upgrade.bin) can do it for you.
Mount the the RHEL 7.3 iso image as CDROM to this VM and execute upgrade.bin this way
./upgrade-amd-amdos7-x86_64-ndw-12-04-13-0094-b001.bin --automatic --licenses-type dlm --install-deps-from-media
