AMD Installation several states away

Hello,

We have two Data Centers. The Local DC has an AMD, SQL server, and 3 CAS servers all local. However, we are installing a new AMD several states away in our secondary DC. Would it be best to have the SQL local and use the 3 local CAS servers or should I install a new SQL server where the new AMD will be located and install new CAS servers there and tie them all together in a farm?

Thank you very much for any help,

Tom

A lot of the usability will depend on the speed and reliability of the WAN links between the datacenters.

In the CAS/SQL local scenario, if the link between datacenters is not fast enough, the CAS will always have processing delays.

In the CAS/SQL installed with the AMD, reports running against both sets of data will also be dependent on the WAN link speed, but this is less disruptive as you could go to the individual CAS hosts for their reports rather than the joint report.

Thank you very much Erik, I hope all is going well for you.

That answers my question.

Thanks,
