Can we make DCRUM read-only OOTB Reports/Dashboards read/write for editing?

Hi team,

I am working with my customer, and they have expressed a desire to change the default colors used in our OOTB DCRUM reports. For some of our reports, this isn't a problem, and I can make/save the changes. However, some reports such as Operation Explorer are set to read-only and cannot be edited. Is there a way to change these reports from read-only to read/write for the purpose of editing?

We are currently on DCRUM 2017.

OOTB reports will be overwritten with any servicepack or upgrade you'll do. That might be the case why these reports are "read only"

What about saving the report at another name and editing the menu entries to link to your custom report and not the default one?

As far as I know this can be done be creating a file named like

this will be the last Menu file that will be readed by the CAS so you can overwrite any other entry and this won't be touched by any upgrade procedure.

You can have a look at this posting:

User Help Menu Servlet Menu

The second reason some OOTB reports in 2017 (and all OOTB reports in 2018) were marked as read only, is that in most cases those reports are pretty complex; there is a lot of logic implemented in conditions and links. Not to mention that we optimize those reports to run from memory cache - and sometimes adding a single metric might switch the whole section into the data view which requires (slower) calls to data base.

As Friederike wrote, if you want to retain your changes you can save the report under a different name.

However, I would like to warn you from modifying NAM Server/CAS menu through servletsmenu-*.properties files. The officially supported way is explained in this post:

Or in the doc 🙂

Thanks for pointing this out! I was searching for these but maybe with the wrong keywords

Hi guys,

Sorry for not responding right away on this, I was out sick for the last 2 days.

Thanks for providing me with the documentation on changing the links for the menu items.

I started out by making the copies of the default dashboards about a month or so ago, but then found that it was going to take a lot of time/effort to change the links in every dashboard/tab. Since we only want to change the default colors and not the data, my customer requested that we try to figure out the easiest way to perform this and to make it uniform across all of the reports.

Are there any other possible ways of easily doing this?

Thanks for the great responses,
