Causes for inaccurate loss rate reporting?

For all my configured client sites, the loss rate measures don't add up. By definition, two-way loss rate should be server and client loss rates combined, right?

But the Two-way loss rate always is lower than the sum of the Client Loss Rate and Server Loss Rate. What can be causes for this? What modifications can we make to correct this reporting?

Hi Radu

This is more a case of understanding how it is calculated rather than it being inaccurate. What you are failing to take into account is the weighting of packets in each direction.

So let me try to explain.

Loss rates for client and server is
based only on packets in that direction and they will not always be the same. Whereas two way loss rate is based on the packets in each direction.

Say client sends 100 pkts and server send 900. If say the client looses 10 then
it would have 10% loss rate as it is 10/100*100 = 10% but for two way it would
be 10/1000*100 or 1% As all the packets are taken into account.

Hope that makes sense.
