Changing charset of email alerts



Is it possible to define the character set being used to encode email alerts from DCRUM?

  • The content-type of the blocked
    emails are set to text/plain; charset=UTF-8.
  • The Forum Sentry allows text/plain
    through but as it has the charset on the end it is being blocked.
  • If the emails can be sent without
    specifying the charset then they will be delivered (as per the original

Richard is trying to send an email alert from the CAS, which by default is set to UTF-8 and is subsequently getting blocked by a security device because it isn't in plain text.

Can we change the charset on alerts from UTF-8 to plain text?

Something isn't quite correct... UTF-8 *is* a plain text specification; if their Forum Sentry is blocking UTF-8 as not plain text, their Forum Sentry is wrong.

Per the Internet Mail Consortium (the body that generally defines email standards), any mail handler that can't handle UTF-8 email after January 1, 1999 "...should be
considered deficient and lacking in standard ..."
