Correlate citrix sessions

Hi,

The customer wants to have visibility into the LB's and SAG's performance footprint for all citrix sessions.

I'd like to understand if we can correlate the citrix sessions before and after the LB (NAT) and before and after SAG. Since the CTX user names are available through the ICA decode we could stitch the sessions together using the CTX user name and the time frame ?

Thanks,

Tony

Tony,

Yes, using usernames is the correct way to correlate sessions before and after the SAG. While there's no out of the box report doing that, you can create a custom DMI report to see the correlation.

Wojtek.

(POC related)

I have attached the network diagram and application flow diagrams and some idea I had. However I can't figure out if the E2E performance view is feasible within 1 DMI report.

Any idea is welcome ! Thx, Tony

Please use the assetarena-e2e-dmi-new.pdf (added the report layout)

As a follow-up question :

I get the following info from my customer (POC context). See graph in first post.

Between end-user & F5 : ica is encapuslated in https

Between F5 & Netscaler : ica is encapsulated in https

Currently I have defined 2 sw services with the HTTPS (SSL) analyzer and activated the ssl key. However, can I use the ICA over SSL analyzer instead ?

I've gone through the link here below but it speak about http and ica services using the same port (443). At that time you can either choose to use https or ica over ssl decode.

However my customer is telling me something else i.e. ica encapsulated in https or should I understand this as ica over ssl ?

Please advise.

Thanks,

Tony

Tony,

ICA cannot be encapsulated in HTTP(S). Your customer is referring to ICA over SSL, which can be analyzed by the AMD.

Hi Wojtek, indeed I am using the ICA over SSL analyzer to decrypt.
