Hi,

Just to check whether DC RUM decode is capable to provide H.264 application availability and performance ? Is there roadmap to add this ?

Hi Chuan, Do you mean H.264 codec for streaming video content?

Hi Chaun,

H.264 is a HD codec, and uses what is called Dynamic payload in RTP, actually pretty much all video systems need/use a dynamic payload model , currently even with our RTP only decode we are unable to align the relevant fields that would enable us to decode the RTCP frames and so you will not be able to report on any performance metrics pertinent to RTP traffic that is using the H.264 codec.

There are no defind plans to extend our decodes to support these codecs, but as an alternative to at least provide some call usage details you could look to leverage NetFlow, and if available NBAR2 would give more detailed application details, such as cisco-jabber, Skype etc rather than just RTP.

Best Regards

Mike
