The service command should be part of every OS installation. Are you sure you type it all lowercase ("service") and not as you mentioned it ("Service")?

Hi - Thanks for your reply. i am running with lower case as well.

service kpa restart
-bash: service: command not found

Also do you have any idea why i am unable to run "kpadmin" command?

Thanks,

Kapil

  • What OS+version are you using (32/64)?
  • What AMD version?

  • Are you working on 'root', or using sudo?
  • Did you install in the default location?
  • Did you use the (right) amd.cfg and jumpstart installation?

In case the actual binary and associated files for /sbin/service are not
installed in the system, then you might be able to install
the following package via yum

$ sudo yum install -y system-config-services

Hi Frans - This is old set up and was working few days ago. Now suddenly when i was trying to load certificate; i got above error while running "kpadmin" command. Any idea come across about the fix in this situation would appreciated.

Thanks - Kapil

Did you open a ticket to the dynatrace support?

Kapil, I actually suspect that you may have an error on your disk or a filesytem got corrupted.

You may have to do filesystem check first. See this article:

http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2012/08/fsck-command-e...

And do as Jean-Louis suggested, open a support case at DT.

Issue is now resolved. Finally i was able to run "service kpa start" command successfully. kpa agent is now up and i can run kpadmin command though. Thanks for all your support guys.

I am curious what solved it.

Hi Frans - sudo /sbin/service kpa start this command works fine and kpa engine started

Hi,

I have the same issue in RedHat 7.3

The actual command to restart it with systemctl is as follows :

# systemctl restart kpa.service

After restarting, it works fine again ...

Digging deeper for the origin of this issue [it happens often on multiple servers], I found that OS system cleanup is removing required FIFO files from the /tmp directory

I'll create a support ticket to suppress system/tmp cleanup for these files, or to have their location changed.

just add :

x /tmp/kpa_*

to /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/dynatrace-amd.conf
