Getting Alerts into a Ticketing System



We're trying to get alerts from the CAS sent to a ticketing system (via SCOM) without SNMP or email. The preferred method would be to get it into the event log, is there a way of doing this directly from the CAS or has anyone done it in a specific way..?





Easiest way is to install an agent or share a folder on the CAS, and go scrape the alarm log files directly.  We use that method since we have HP agents installed on all the boxes, but with a few more moving parts, you can make that folder accessible, or set up a scheduled task to copy it to a folder that is accessible.

More difficult, but more elegant way, is that the alarm log viewer is a dataview, so you can query it using CAS Web Services - when you poll it the first time (you can use SOAPui to test and build the query) one of the dataviews listed will be for alerts, and it'll be obvious which one it is.  You can then code it or use a commandline html parser like cURL to submit the query on a schedule.

In 12.3, it's now possible to execute a command as notification for an alert. So you can place any comment you like into the event log using that mechanism.
