How can I extent ADS data store period

Hi guys,

Is it possible to change ADS data store period(default 7 days?)

I can only set data reading threshold at ADS Scalability Settings.

And I don't see related configuration in ADS_server userproperties.

Sorry, looks like it was internal post. Anyway here is the content:

So, as we don't have any aggregates in ADS we can control how long raw data is kept.

We have 3 types of data in ADS (that correspond with ADS' DMI data views):

a) "Page analysis" in 12.0 and "Operation data" in 12.1

It's
controlled by "ItiPageData.COUNT" and "ItiPageDataAggr.COUNT"
properties (from C:\Program
Files\Compuware\AWDS)>\config\hlog-pagedata-sqldata-vdata.properties
file) that by default has value "10". The value means how many days you
would like to keep the data about Pages/Operations. Both options must
have the same value.

b) "Transactions" in 12.0 and "Sequence transaction data" in 12.1

It's
controlled by "ItiTransData.COUNT" property (from C:\Program
Files\Compuware\AWDS)>\config\hlog-transdata file) that by default
has value "10". The value means how many days you would like to keep the
data about Transactions/Sequence transactions.

c) "Page elements" in 12.0 and "Operation elements data" in 12.1

It's
controlled by "ItiWplsData.COUNT" and "ItiWplsData.EMPTY_COUNT"
properties from C:\Program
Files\Compuware\AWDS)>\config\hlog-vdata-notrace.properties file. The
first value in ItiWplsData.COUNT means how many tables are in AWDS
database. The second value means how many hours data would be kept in
each table. The value in ItiWplsData.EMPTY_COUNT means how many tables
in the first value in ItiWplsData.COUNT would keep empty.

So with default setting:

ItiWplsData.COUNT=33,6

ItiWplsData.EMPTY_COUNT=21

we have 33-21 tables * 6 hours = 3 days of raw page/operation elements data.

Above changes must be made in the following order:

  • stop ADS,
  • back up DB,
  • apply changes in the file(s),
  • run C:\Program Files\Compuware\AWDS\server\admin.bat batch file with
"-M" switch from command prompt so the changes will be applied to DB,
  • start ADS.

Hi Adam,

would it be a good idea to write a short "howto" article on extending ADS data store period?

Thanks, Raffaele

It exists: Extend decrease ADS data storage period.

I will make sure it's up to date.

Sweet. Thanks Adam!

Hi Adam,

I got "Access Denied" form the link you posted.

Sorry, looks like it was internal post. Anyway edited the original answer.

Thanks a lot

Hello Adam,

Is this the same as Storage Period Configuration is available in the Console?

Babar

Can you see it under ADS device in RUM Console?

I beleive it's only for CAS.

Hello Adam,

I was talking about the following:

Ahhh right, looks like I overlooked it found its way to GUI ...

Yes, these are responsible for ADS data retention as per rules provided in my answer.
