How is data being aggregated in APM?

Can someone explain me how data is being aggregated in APM? The tool provides time ranges and
resolutions, but doesn’t say how aggregation is being done.

Basic question is: To what detail level is data available in which
timeframe? And if raw data is not available any more, how is this being

A link to CAS (and Synthetic) Documentation where this may be explained, may be helpful, too.

Hi @Jasper Van Ijk,

the default CAS data retention periods are the following:

CAS 5 Minutes granular data -> 10 Days

CAS 1 Day Trends -> 31 Days

CAS Monthly Trends ->12 Months

So, basically, you'll keep each period interval granularity for ten days, after the 10th day they will be daily aggregated and after the 31th day they will be aggregated monthly for (at least) 12 Months.

Talking about the AMD raw data they will be kept for 8 days (in case of CAS unavailability/system down), as soon as the report server becomes available again it will be processed and aggregated as shown above.

Hope it answers your question. Feel free to ask more details.

Thank you Raff.

Would you happen to know where this is described in the documentation?

Hi Frans,

actually there isn't a specific page describing the default data retention values. It's more something related to the customer needs and to the system performance and capacity.

Anyway you'll find some bits of information here:

Hope it helps.

Thank you!
