RUM console DB content

Hi Guys

Just got couple of questions in my mind about content of console DB. So far I know, it contains normally traces data only. But it might contain configuration settings.

Questions are

What configuration settings ,if any?

Does it contain only traces data or it contains anything else?

If we delete console DB, will that cause any impact to AMDs?

If we delete console DB, will that cause any impact on CASs?

Hope you can help me with this.

Regards,

Taral

If you delete RUM Console database you will loose information about devices specified there and you will have to add them once again and re-read configuration from CASes/ADSes/ADMs.

No traces, nor AMD or CAS configuration will be lost as this information is stored either on CAS/ADS or AMD.

Thanks Adam for quick response, as always.

Issue: cva.db is 12 GB and cva_log is 23 GB, making console DB large

Goal: Restore console DB to normal size

Steps:

1)Turn off console service

2)Log into SQL, delete cva db   (do i need to delete cva db via sql or just delete file from folder?)

3)Start console service

4) I would expect to see it blank

5) readd the devices

6)re-read configuration

Do you think above steps are correct? At step 4, will console be blank or it will still have devices there?

Taral

What version it is?

Hi Adam,

It is 12.2.1

Then the correct steps are:

  1. Backup current RUM Console DB,
  2. Stop RUM Console service,
  3. Delete the DB using SQL Studio,
  4. Recreate the DB from scratch by following How to recreate RUM Conosle database article,
  5. Start RUM Console service,
  6. Add all devices and re-read their configuration.
