can you suggest me a good way how to create a report on the number of internet and intranet users accessing a software service?
Background: we'd like to know, if a particular application is accessed by more users from the internet then from the intranet.
Solved! Go to Solution.
If you are currently monitoring the Application and its showing up under "Applications" then I would set a conversion goal. One goal for the Internet and one for the Intranet. This will then give you metrics on the number of users accessing the app via each method. You could also set up string properties and or request attributes - but that might be a stretch. These are all viable options but the conversion goal is the simplest to create.
My first idea is to take advantage of Locations feature of Dynatrace NAM. How about creating location (or locations) covering all IP addresses you consider as your intranet? All users from this/those location(-s) (in case of multiple locations you might consider grouping them under single Region or Area) will be your intranet users, and all users from other locations will be Internet users.
Another option we might consider is to create report with some advanced filters on User name and/or Client IPO dimensions, but, to be honest, I like solution with locations much more.
Please, let me know if any of those ideas helps you to solve the problem. If not we'll be looking for something else.
