Windows components services : startup order

Hello,

I wonder if in a Windows Server where there are multiple components installed (for example, CSS and CAS) there is an order in the startup sequence for the Windows service during the start of the sver.

If not, it is possible to configure that.

Regards,

Yes, there is an order :

  1. Microsoft SQL Server
  2. CSS
  3. CAS / ADS / RUM Console / Enterprise Portal

By default, there's only a dependency set to MS SQL Server. If you wish to add another dependency to CSS you can follow the procedure described here :

Hi

I had some really bad problems on faster servers where the CAS and ADS starts are initiated before the CSS start is complete. THis leads to the CAS and ADS being stuck in "starting" mode and impossible to stop.

What I've done is to put the CAS and ADS to "manual" in the services and then changed the watchdog to "delayed" This in turn eventually will start the CAS and ADS..

I think this should be set by the install script by default or either better, make a chain of dependencies which it really is (SQL-CSS-(watchdog)-CAS+ADS)
