"logging/usage.udb" file on CAS server

Guide

What's the purpose of this file on the CAS server?  we're using DCRUM 12.2.  Also, do we need to keep all the file in that logging directory? since their sizes are growing pretty fast.

Hi Kevin,

The usage().udb files actually come from the Distributed License Management (DLM) tool and are used for its usage reports. I have found that if you are not using the reports, or if they are taking up too much space, you can delete these files and stop their creation by doing the following:

  1. Stop DLM service (Compuware License Service)
  2. Delete (all) udb files
  3. Go to program files\common files\compuware\config
  4. Edit the file config.xml
  5. Add the following tag <disable_usage/> before </server> tag. Example:
    <config>
         <server>
              <whatever tags they currently have are here>
              <disable_usage/>
         </server>
    </config>
  6. Restart the DLM service

Thanks,

Pablo
