Creating a Base Tagging Taxonomy

HI, I am working on building a comprehensive Tagging Strategy. There will be multiple environments where we use Tags for billing, administration and automation purposes.  But within the Tenant we may still require breakdown usage/cost consumed by e.g. a department or other organizational unit. So, interested if there is published example/s of a comprehensive Tagging strategy, that covers all Dynatrace Capabilities that are consumed, managed and billed by? Also including suggestions where to assign Tags using automation and where to use Metadata for assignment of tags!

I know over time these will need to be refine and have ongoing development but if we get the base Tagging Taxonomy from day one it will mean we have the right foundation to cover future organizational needs. Appreciate any help especially practical examples of a Tagging Taxonomy.

Many thanks in advance.

Hello @PeterO

Please have a look at the best practices and recommendations for tagging.

HI Babar, is there a default Taxonomy that shows what is recommended to be Tag and why.... presuming 90% of the tags would be automatically created during creation through rules?  Like anything sometimes less can be more ....so want to ensure the tags do bring value, so ideally would like to see what Dynatrace indicates what should be tagged and the reasons and purpose of how these tags could/should be used. Cheers Peter
