ODBC connection Failure Problems

Gogi

Hi All,

We have a requirement to monitor database for "ODBC connection Failures", I hope this should be captured by Dynatrace default Anomaly detection rule of "Database failed connects" and create problems as "Failed Database connects".

Please let me know whether my understanding is right or not.

DB : Postgre SQL

Both DB hosts are monitored in full-stack mode, DB is autodiscovered and active.

Regards,

Gogi

Hi @Gogi,

You are right. See below some failed connect problem.

Hello @Gogi

I remember that the ODBC connection was not supported by Dynatrace. Someone else from the community can endorse this as well.

Hi @Babar_Qayyum,

To tell the truth I have not found ODBC support in the documentation (only for .NET framework). Technology support | Dynatrace Docs

In my examples there were JBDC connections (Oracel DBs with java applications).

Thanks for the clarification.

Hi Mizso and Babar- thanks for your ideas and views.

Even I have gone through documentation but didn't find anything specific to "ODBC Connection Failures".

@Mizső  - https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/shortlink/section-technology-support#net-framework

1.in above doc link  for .net framework support we can see it has ODBC in versions and database framework is ADO.NET so please help me to understand more here, like exactly what all DBs(MSSQL, etc) it will support?

2.Just consider it supports MsSQL, so whether it identifies "ODBC connection Failures" with default anomaly detection rules ? or need to create custom alerts?

Thanks.
