How is defined the value of dtCookie?

Hi,

With enabled RUM, Dynatrace uses Cookies and stitches user sessions.

https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/shortlink/cookies

According to the above docs, "dtCookie" has two possible values:

<serverID>|<sessionID&gt|<applicationID>|<applicationState>

or

=3=key1=value1=key2=value2=keyN=valueN

Then how does dynatrace decide to use which pattern?

In other words, I'd like to know conditions in which the value of dtCookie is set as "<serverID>|<sessionID&gt|<applicationID>|<applicationState> " or "=3=key1=value1=key2=value2=keyN=valueN ".

Especially, the condition I want to know more is the latter, because our customer has the terrible trouble with their classic ASP application due to the issue that the value which starts with "=" is set for "dtCookie" .

This value causes many crashes of their application.

Our situation is similar to this post:

https://answers.dynatrace.com/spaces/148/uem-open-q-a_2/questions/216594/dtcookie-and-deleting-it.ht...

In order to make further investigation on this issue, could you tell me the rule or the condition for the decision of "dtCookie" value pattern as soon as possible?

Regards,

Kohei Saito

@Dynatrace, any news on this topic?

We have the same issue and we are looking for a way to set the format of the cookie without leaving the random choice.

If it's impossible, it would be crucial to know conditions in which the value of dtCookie is set as "<serverID>|<sessionID&gt|<applicationID>|<applicationState> " or "=3=key1=value1=key2=value2=keyN=valueN" as @Kohei S. said.

Thanks, regards

Andrea
