application authenication with SAML

i was using synthetic monitoring for a SaaS application that can only be used in a private endpoint. I had the username and password saved in the vault. 

The active directory has integrated SSO for the SaaS application using SAML. I have option to manually enter the service username and password for the application but everytime I try to click on it fails. 

I was thinking of trying managed identify as both the application are under Azure AD or shall i go for certificates.
