Is there a way to configure a Dynatrace ActiveGate to use a service account to authenticate to an AppProxy?

We have a blocker in our deployment of Dynatrace. The "ideal" configuration that our engineers want is for our proposed ActiveGate to use a service account to authenticate to our proxy. Is that possible? If so, how can I configure it? I've gone through the install of an AG and found no such options.

The one thing they don't mention is the location of the 'custom.properties' file. By default its located in C:\ProgramData\dynatrace\gateway\config.
